What actually happens during a NAET treatment

Darcie using neuromuscular response testing on a patient’s raised arm.

One of the questions I am asked most often is what actually happens during a NAET treatment.

It is a good question. Every session is individual, but the overall process is gentle and simpler than most people expect. Here is a look at it.

Step one: looking for the why

Every symptom has a story. Someone may come in with seasonal allergies, digestive discomfort, headaches, brain fog, eczema, or pain they have had for years. The first thing we want to understand is what may be feeding that pattern.

Using a gentle neuromuscular response test, often called muscle testing, we start asking the body questions. It helps us see whether the body responds strongly or weakly to a particular food, nutrient, environmental trigger, or chemical.

Rather than guessing, we are listening.

Step two: working with the pattern

Once we have identified an item, we begin the treatment. While you are in contact with that item, I apply gentle acupressure along specific points on the spine.

The intention is to help the nervous system and immune system recognize that something once read as a stressor does not need to bring the same response. Many people describe it as moving from reactivity toward balance.

Step three: rechecking the response

After the treatment we check again. If the response is now strong, we spend a few more minutes reinforcing that new pattern with acupuncture or acupressure points while you keep holding the item.

Step four: giving the body time

After a session, patients generally avoid the treated item for about 25 hours. That quiet stretch gives the body time to settle into the new pattern.

Step five: checking in at your next visit

At your next visit we simply check again. If the response is holding, we move on to the next priority. Sometimes a follow-up treatment helps. Many items hold well.

One step at a time. Layer by layer.

Why I love this work

One of my favorite parts of this work is watching someone realize they may not have to organize their whole life around avoiding things.

Every person is unique, every treatment is individual, and results vary. This is meant to work alongside the care you already receive, not instead of it.

If you have been wondering whether NAET might be a fit for you or someone you love, I would be honored to talk it through. Learn how NAET works.

With love and appreciation,
Darcie
