The body remembers, and it can learn something new

Graphic over a photograph of a misty lake at sunrise, with the words: we can retrain the body to remember wellness.

There is a story a yoga teacher once told me.

A young girl was helping her mom make dinner. Her mom took out a pot roast, carefully cut both ends off, and set it in the pan.

“Mom, why do you cut the ends off?”

“I am not sure,” her mom said. “It is just how I have always done it. It is how I learned.”

So she called her own mother to ask. Her mother thought about it for a moment and said she believed she had learned it from Grammy.

So they called Grammy. And Grammy laughed. “I cut the ends off because the roast never fit in the pot that fit inside my oven.”

That was it. A practical reason that had stopped applying a long time ago.

Patterns outlive their reasons

Ovens got bigger. Pots changed. The habit stayed anyway.

I think about our bodies the same way. They carry patterns too. Some of those patterns are good and steady and worth keeping. Others made sense once and are ready for something new.

Teaching the body something new

A body can come to treat an ordinary food as something to defend against. NAET is a gentle way of working with that pattern. Learn how NAET works.

The goal is not to force anything. It is to give the body a chance to learn a calmer response, one item at a time. Every person is different, and results vary.

If something in you has been asking for a gentler pattern, I would be honored to help. Get in touch.

With love and appreciation,
Darcie
