I have been thinking a lot about happiness lately.
We all want to be happy. But what if a part of us has learned that happiness is not completely safe?
Something I keep seeing in the clinic
Through simple yes or no muscle testing, I might ask a question like this one. Is it safe for you to be happy?
Sometimes the answer is no.
The conscious mind says of course I want to be happy. But sometimes a deeper part of us has learned something different.
Where those patterns come from
Maybe happiness once meant that someone might get angry with you. That you might get into trouble. That you would stand out too much. That it was not safe to let your guard down.
Maybe you were scolded as a child for laughing too loudly, or for being too silly.
Small experiences like those can leave patterns around joy that we carry long after the original moment has passed. Often we do not realize they are there.
What we can do with it
Through gentle muscle testing and NAET emotion work, we can begin to explore those patterns together. See focus, stress and nervous system support.
It gives us room to ask some quiet questions. Is this belief still serving me? Is it safe for me to feel joy? Can I let happiness be part of my life?
When those old patterns begin to shift, patients have told me they notice small and lovely changes. They laugh more. They sing again. They feel lighter. They find it easier to connect with the people around them.
Those are their words, and results vary from person to person.
One thing I want to be clear about
This is gentle work, and it is not mental health care. It does not diagnose or treat anxiety, depression, or any other condition, and it is not a substitute for a therapist or your doctor.
If you are struggling, please reach out to someone who can support you properly. This work sits alongside that care rather than in place of it.
Perhaps happiness is not something we have to chase. Perhaps sometimes we simply have to make a little room for it.
If you are curious about what might be standing between you and a little more ease, I would be honored to explore it with you. Get in touch.
With love and appreciation,
Darcie
